Farm and Tractor Museums

Sadly, there are not as many farming and tractor museums around the country as one might hope. But there are a few. We have put together a partial directory (below).

The best way to see cool and vintage tractors and other farm equipment is to attend an event. This is a popular subject, especially in parts of the country where farming is big. One very cool event is Antique Farming Days at the Cobler Farm in Ottumwa, Iowa. This 7th generation farming family opens up their farm one day a year to show visitors how the old machinery did its work. They don't have a web site, but we found a link to a video worth watching produced by Iowa Public Television: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKnyzQnjrc8

The only trouble with events is that you have to be in the right place on the right day. That is why we are working on a directory of farming museums that are open most of the year. It is a work in progress, and we welcome any suggestions from readers.

As far as events, Farm Collector Magazine publishes an annual directory of events. Farm Collector Magazine is a thousand times more informative and authoritative than this small web site.

It should be pointed out that Great American Tractors.com does not pretend to be an authoritative or complete source of information. Our site is a brief introduction to the subject of farming as seen through tractors and just one piece of the larger story of our American heritage that we call
American Tribute Online.
